… The Age has long called for an independent anti-corruption commission with full powers to investigate politicians and their staff, a proposal resisted by Mr Brumby and his predecessor. Now Opposition Leader Ted Baillieu has taken up the running on this proposal with a pledge of policies “designed to break once and for all the culture of corruption in this state”. After a decade of complacency, the Brumby Government risks being outflanked on this issue.
