The Australian Bureau of Statistics estimates there’s 28,000 ageing parents caring for a son or daughter with a disability.

Anglicare Sydney has interviewed 300 of them, to show that of that sample, one in five parent carers of adult children with disabilities is aged over 80.

The findings give a fresh insight into the lives, pressures and challenges for older parent carers.

We discuss the research with Peter Kell, the CEO of Anglicare, and carer and parent advocate Evelyn Scott.
